2018 Advocating for Emergency Aid Programs in Higher Education Convening

As part of helping the state meet the goals of the higher education plan, 60x30TX, this event will focus on the benefits and impact of emergency aid programs on student persistence and completion. We hope you will join us for a deep dive into best practices and also to learn about the benefits, challenges, and future of providing emergency aid for college students in Texas.

The afternoon briefing on Monday, Sept. 10 (2:00 – 4:30 p.m.) is designed for regents/trustees, chancellors/presidents, chief academic/instructional officers, vice presidents of student affairs, and other higher education executive leaders. An exclusive networking event from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. will follow. Institutional representatives will be encouraged to offer input into policy recommendations for emergency aid programs in Texas, as well as apply for mini grants to improve or expand their existing emergency aid programs.

The full-day convening on Sept. 11 is designed for “hands-on” higher education managers and staff members who will create, enhance, or manage the day-to-day operations of emergency aid programs on their campuses. This day will also include nonprofit and community-based organizations, stakeholders, and philanthropists interested in emergency aid programs. All are welcome to attend both days.
